About Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Muang National Park

Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Muang National Park is located in Phang Nga Province in southern Thailand, covering a coastal area where lush tropical forests meet the Andaman Sea. Established in 1986, the park spans a combination of mountainous terrain, lowland forest, and a 23 km stretch of unspoiled sandy beach along Thai Muang Bay. The park’s rich diversity includes evergreen rainforests, mangroves, and coral reefs, forming important habitats for terrestrial and marine species. It is particularly famous for its role as a nesting site for endangered sea turtles, including the green turtle and leatherback turtle, which come ashore here during the nesting season between June and August. Visitors to the park enjoy quiet beaches such as Hat Thai Muang, hiking through trails in Khao Lampi Forest, and observing the abundant wildlife, including macaques, hornbills, and a variety of reptiles. The Lampi Waterfall area is a notable inland attraction, offering a refreshing natural pool in the forest. The park provides an excellent combination of coastal and forest environments, making it an appealing destination for ecotourism and nature study. Facilities include basic camping and picnic areas, with most visitors coming for day trips to the beach and forest trails. Accessibility is relatively straightforward from Phang Nga town, with local roads leading to park entrances. Khao Lampi–Hat Thai Muang National Park stands out for its conservation of coastal ecosystems and its critical role protecting marine turtles, offering visitors a chance to experience quiet natural beauty away from more crowded tourist destinations.
